Taif
A nice drive up the escarpment, either treating it as a race course like the locals, or a sedate trip to see the baboons and markets at the top.

The waterfall
On the way to Taif, even in the height of summer the waterfall still operates. Before the escarpment, a great 4WD track leads up to the hills for great views.

Shuayba
On the south coast, a great dive spot out of Jeddah for a Friday, or even the whole weekend.

Camel Racing
The camel racing is well worth a visit. Information of when they run and how to get there, and plenty of photos.

Wadi Rabigh
Two reasons for visiting here: a nice day out visiting the mud houses, and excellent diving for the weekend just past the housing compound.

Usfan
Just north of Jeddah, and ideal for a bit of good off-road driving in the sand dunes.
